And it's a similar rule of thumb the other way round: if the mood of your dress is quite subtle then turn up the volume on your hair or you're in danger of looking boring

We had Grannies and my Maid of Honour making 1.5km of bunting (yes really!), we had a team of confetti growers and jam jar decorators

The objective is to appear polished without giving the impression that you've gone to great lengths
