Of course, women wore trousers now, particularly for travel and sport, (an innovation begun by Coco Chanel in the 1920s) but these still showed off the curves and blouses were tucked in to show off the waist

That doesnt mean they have to be bespoke, just that theyre constructed with some formality, fit for pairing with a jacket on those dressier days

Besides the cropped cardigan, I think it is important to also mention that I wore strapless stick-on bra cups ( favorite Backless Bare cups from Aerie ) and nude underwear to ensure my undergarments were not visible through the white color & bra straps were not visible in the eyelet detailing on the shoulders/back of the dress
